A MEANINGFUL JOB HUNT REQUIRES A REAL PLAN
Looking for a new job takes a lot of time and effort. Harvard Business Review’s Management Tip of the Day from Oct. 21 offers stress relief from working your current role, managing life in general and exploring a job shift. Here’s a starter kit to get going:
- Define your why. Focus on the end goal. Knowing what you ultimately want will help you enter your search with exploration and empowerment in mind, not resentment or fear.
- Visualize. Remember a time when you were excited about a new job or happy in your current one. What was it that made you feel fulfilled? Was it the people? The mission of the work? Use these images to help you find a job that brings you this same kind of joy.
- Make a plan. Decide how much time you’re willing and able to dedicate to the job hunt, then reserve it in your calendar. Consider setting aside 15 minutes twice a day for checking LinkedIn and responding to recruiters.
