April 17, 2024DLE FLASHBACKS: STAY ACTIVE, STAY HEALTHY
April 17, 2024By Sarah Marques, DLE Communications Intern, Senior at Marist College
Attendees at the April 12 DLE Culture Chat gained a game plan for keeping relationships with their boss from crumbling. The one-hour, virtual program, Build a Better Relationship with Your Boss, featured leadership coaches Janet Forest and Jeff Schreier, who outlined this four-step process for preventing meltdowns:
- Consider your role
- Focus on your boss
- Look within
- Move forward thoughtfully
“People don’t quit their jobs, they quit their boss,” Janet emphasized. And that’s a disruptive move, she noted, that can be avoided by taking ownership of aspects of your relationship with your boss that you can control. “Look deeper within yourself and be more aware of factors influencing your perspective, such as assumptions that you are making about your boss or your own interpretations of their feedback.”
