October 12, 2022WELCOMING OUR NEWEST DLE INTERN: LUCY KRAVITZ
October 12, 2022By Ronak Parida, DLE Marketing/Content Creator Intern, Junior at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY
DLE veteran Lexi Aruck is getting closer and closer to achieving her goals of helping people in the medical field–but not in the traditional sense of being an MD. Instead, she will be working as a DC (doctor of chiropractic).
Lexi strives to be a leader in the field of preventative medicine, which–as she explains–“means not waiting until someone is in a disease state to tend to their wellbeing. It is a way of maintaining good health, rather than treating someone’s symptomatology.”
Her career path up to now has been anything but straight. She’s explored different roles and different industries. Upon joining the DLE organization in 2016, Lexi found a welcoming community that helped guide her from college to the workplace. At the time, she was an undergraduate at Syracuse University majoring in biology and on a pre-med track.
“I had a lot of conversations with recent college grads at the DLE, especially ones that hadn’t followed a ‘typical’ career path. Their insight taught me that my idea of the ‘real world’ was not as broad as it should be. I was encouraged to take a step back and think about what it was that I really wanted to do.”
Lexi’s inquiry led her to a big career move. She found the field of manufacturing, joined Anheuser-Busch and became one of the youngest managers at its Baldwinsville, NY, brewery.
“Meeting people in the DLE gave me confidence to pivot and decide I didn’t have to follow this prewritten path,” recalls Lexi, a former DLE Advisory Board Member.
But Lexi knew her path was somewhere in the world of healthcare. After a chiropractic visit in June 2020 opened her to the full scope of chiropractic care, Lexi decided to go back to school to pursue her true passion.
Currently, Lexi is pursuing a Masters in Applied Clinical Nutrition through an online asynchronous program as well as a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Her asynchronous Master’s course will be completed in December 2023, while her doctorate will conclude in March 2024. This will be followed by a real-world clinical rotation.
And, she’s not stopping there. Lexi has been working as a personal trainer since March 2021.
When asked about how she finds time for all her pursuits, Lexi says “It’s really difficult to balance everything and still make time to maintain my relationships with my fiancé, my family and my friends. Keeping things in perspective and remembering that I don’t need to be perfect at everything helps me from overextending. I drop some plates every now and then, and I’ve learned to accept that as part of the process.”
Ultimately, Lexi’s main takeaway was to continue to follow the things that she loves and to find where she fits.” “Now I am not scared to make a change,” she notes.
In Lexi’s personal life, she has recently gotten engaged! The DLE congratulates Lexi on this exciting news. We will continue to follow Lexi’s journey in helping people within the field of preventative medicine.
