Hello DLE community!
My name is Ronak Parida, and I am a sophomore at Syracuse’s Whitman School of Management. I have decided to double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. I believe that Marketing and Supply Chain are a great combination since they enable me to build both qualitative and quantitative skills.
So far, I have greatly enjoyed the curriculum that I have learned in my college courses. I have taken core classes in every type of subject, which has definitely helped me get a comprehensive understanding of the business world. It also gives me chances to identify my potential interests–which have changed as I learn more about certain aspects of business.
Currently, I am a member of two amazing organizations: Pulp Marketing Club and the John Quincy Adams Society. Pulp Marketing Club has given me actual experience with graphic design by using Canva to create graphics for other Syracuse University clubs. The John Quincy Adams Society brings together members to talk about foreign policy and other international events. I recently gave a presentation on Mexico–and not only did I learn a lot from doing research, but I was also able to teach other students about Mexico’s fascinating history and potential future.
As a new intern for the DLE, I want to build on my graphic design experience and gain real hands-on marketing experience. The thing that I like most about marketing is the idea of reaching people–and promoting DLE events will definitely give me experience in that field. Also, I have always wanted to do more with graphic design ever since messing around with MS paint as a kid. In my work with the DLE, I will finally get to use graphic design for a professional experience.
I am super excited about my new internship position and cannot wait to see how I can contribute and what I can learn. I know I will get so much out of the position, while engaging with various speakers and leaders to reach a target audience.
