January 25, 2022In this feature interview on the popular radio program, “Backstory – Let’s Hear It,” DLE Leader Marcus Coleman talks about how the DLE profoundly changed his career and network. The program airs on Berkshire-based WTBR-FM.
Hear about the evolution of the DLE from its campus roots to global community as Marcus, Virtual Financial Advisor with Raymond James, recaps highlights of the organization’s 13-year history. The episode can be accessed here: https://wtbrfm.com. The program, which is also a podcast, is hosted by Roberta McCulloch-Dews of the City of Pittsfield Mayor’s Office.
Reflecting on his DLE experience, Marcus notes, “The DLE is about taking what you learned and applying that knowledge to your career and personal life. It has been a great experience—applying the knowledge I learned about topics like networking to establish new relationships that have brought value to my professional and personal life. I’ll always be a lifetime learner; however, I’m now able to apply and teach the knowledge and skills I learned through the DLE.”
Reflecting on his interview, which has become a popular download, Marcus says, “I was surprised and honored that I was chosen to share my story. I moved to Pittsfield in March of 2020 at the pandemic’s start. Through my advisory board leadership position with the DLE and other board roles, I have met many people in the community via virtual and in-person community service events and built a tremendous network that is a valued resource.”
Marcus shares his experiences of growing up amidst adversities in Camden, NJ, why his mom is the true MVP and how faith and optimism combine to be his winning formula for personal and professional success.
Well done, Marcus. You truly exemplify the DLE motto: Keep Soaring!
