May is just around the corner, and many people are asking themselves, what have I accomplished? Or maybe the scarier question, what have I not accomplished?
With the second quarter of the year underway, re-evaluation was at the forefront of the April DLE Breakfast Club, which conducted a calibration to check on members’ goal progress and gave a boost to those feeling stuck. Data from the latest DLE 10-Second-Poll showed that 62% of respondents were satisfied with their goal progress, but 38% were not.
DLE entrepreneurs Jonathan Katz, Founder of BLENDi in Boston, MA, and Lucas Valois, Marketing Analyst at GMC IST in São Paolo, Brazil, shared their customized tools for tracking daily habits supporting goals. Highlights from their strategies included:
- Make it a habit: Achieving your goals should be a daily thought process. Create a system for yourself to track your goal progress each day. Set reminders on your phone, put notes around your room, or create an excel sheet to help track yourself until goal setting and achieving is a habit.
- Have a variety of goals: Create goals that are easier to achieve. These will help you feel accomplished and keep you motivated as you complete them. Also, create more stretch goals. These goals will likely take more time and effort to accomplish. Having a combination of the two will help create a strong balance between getting things done and reaching for more.
-
Understand why: Set goals that have meaning to you. Understanding why you want to achieve the goals you create will help you motivate yourself better.
- Strengthen your skills: It is important to have strength in discipline, organization and accountability to accomplish your goals. These three personal skills are essential in growing the right mindset and capabilities to meet your goals.
