Hi everyone! My name is Sydney Gordon, and I am beyond excited to join the DLE team as a Communications intern.
As a rising senior at Pace University in Manhattan, I’m working toward a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Journalism and Digital Storytelling. While I was constantly bouncing between ideas of what I wanted to do, I have always loved the creative freedom that comes with writing. Whether through reading, music or film, I decided to explore a career path where I could combine my interests into a medium that allowed me to connect with others, which led me towards the communications field.
I grew up in Point Pleasant, a small beach town in NJ. My mom’s occupation as a professional triathlete gave me the opportunity to travel the world with her throughout my childhood, including visiting family in South Africa. With every place I traveled, I met so many people whom I could learn from, each with their own stories to tell. Not only did I grow my appreciation for other cultures, but these experiences sparked a strong desire to be surrounded by such diversity and move to New York City.
I recently had the opportunity to work with Mezz Entertainment as an Artist Management and Promotions Intern. I was able to play a key role in enhancing visibility and career growth for clients as well as the company, where I assisted in researching, drafting pitches and coordinating brand partnerships. I also organized outreach efforts and maintained up-to-date communication logs. Securing my first partnership for my client delivered a rush of excitement, which has shown me that hard work and persistence pays off.
Working with a supportive team and gaining valuable hands-on experience was inspiring–which is why I want to continue applying my skills in my internship with the DLE. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
