September 24, 2024NEW POLL: ARE YOU A FORWARD THINKER?
October 16, 2024Title isn’t the catalyst for influencing positive change and performance. Interpersonal communication and open-minded thinking build leadership skills at any level.
Last month’s DLE Meetup explored the topic of “leading with influence” in many contexts, including team leadership, project management and personal relationships. This in-person professional development event featured moderated large and small group discussions in a supportive environment intentionally designed to expand mindsets and networks.
DLE members Luke Fitzgerald, Cam Hadley and Lyndsey Wadsworth led conversations, tapping into key themes from the DLE’s official summer read, Leading Without Power by corporate executive Max De Pree. Throughout the summer, takeaways and tips from this leadership best-seller were featured in DLE social media.
“This was a great summer read and I learned valuable skills on how to communicate more effectively with team members and clients,” noted Cam, Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual.
Meetup attendees concurred with these endorsements of the evening’s exchange of diverse views:
- “The book itself provided great takeaways, but meeting with the group added to them as it gave new perspectives on each.”
- “It is helpful to hear how others approach leadership. Each person and situation need to be handled uniquely in leadership–and hearing stories, or other’s experiences, can only help you learn and grow.”
