The Hybrid Holiday Connections Breakfast Club revolved around the topic of holiday traditions, both in and outside the workplace. More than a dozen DLE members shared stories of how the pandemic has altered workspace traditions. With office holiday parties a rarity, access to senior leaders has faded. One participant candidly shared the only time he got to shake the hand of their company’s president was at the holiday party.
The holiday celebration occurred just annually, but it afforded the opportunity to meet, greet and create a story about the experience of meeting a top leader. As a result, leaders need to diligently work to make time to randomly reach out to front-line staff during the year to introduce themselves and ask for feedback about how it’s going.
The lively program also gave participants the opportunity to break into small group networking sessions to share heartwarming and fun traditions that their families partake in—from preparing special holiday dishes to gathering around the big screen to watch Die Hard!
