November 3, 2021KEEP THE ‘DLE GIVE BACK CHALLENGE’ VIBRANT
Brighten the holiday season for a non-profit organization in your community with the gift of your time and talent. Our DLE Give Back Challenge, launched last month, aims to rally the giving spirit of our community.
Here’s what to do:
- Contact your local United Way and inquire about give-back opportunities. There are ample. Many non-profit groups are holding virtual volunteer fairs. Here’s a link to an upcoming virtual volunteer fair sponsored by the Berkshire United Way and The Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires on Nov. 12: https://npcberkshires.org/volunteer-fairs/
- Record yourself alone or with a group of friends volunteering in your community. Include your name, where you are, how you are involved with the DLE and how you are giving back.
- Upload that video to your social media and tag and challenge your friends, coworkers or family members to do the same. Be sure to tag the DLE so we can see who is participating!

One more reason to volunteer–your health. Giving back fuels happiness and a positive outlook, according to research by Harvard University. “Volunteering provides a sense of purpose and improves your mood,” cites the article, which is titled “Health and Happiness Go Hand in Hand.”
