KEEP THE ‘DLE GIVE BACK CHALLENGE’ VIBRANT
November 3, 2021JUST ARRIVED FOR THE HOLIDAYS! NEW DLE WINTER MERCH
November 17, 2021Continuing our commitment to community service and giving back, the DLE is partnering with Construct Inc. to advance its mission of providing housing opportunities to the homeless.
On Nov. 6, a volunteer crew of DLE members will join Construct representatives to rake, clean up and perform other yard work on a Becket (MA) property that will be a future home for southern Berkshire individuals in need of housing.
Thanks goes to Brenda Petell, Director of Volunteer Engagement at Berkshire United Way, for uniting the DLE with Construct on this project. In addition to serving a vitally important cause, volunteering delivers big benefits, notes Brenda. “It lifts morale and builds skills. Giving back feels good and makes people happier.”
If you would like to give several hours of your time on Nov. 6 and join the DLE volunteer project, contact Linda Dulye at ldulye@dulye.com by Thursday, Nov. 4. Only a few openings remain on the crew. Volunteers will need gloves and work boots/shoes, as well as masks for the carpool ride to Beckett.
Construct has been leading the fight against homelessness and housing insecurity in south Berkshire County for over 50 years. It has more than 80 permanent, affordable housing options in south Berkshire County plus 10 units of transitional housing that prioritize individuals coming out of homelessness. The Nov. 6 project rounds out a year of accelerated volunteerism by the DLE in our Berkshire (MA) homebase, including multiple partnerships with the City of Pittsfield and Pittsfield Beautiful on planting activities to support the Downtown Pittsfield Beautification Program.
The DLE’s commitment to community outreach will grow in 2022, assures DLE Founder Linda Dulye. “We will be working closely with Brenda at the United Way to identify volunteer projects with various organizations, as well as continuing to team up with Ricardo Morales (Pittsfield Commissioner of Public Services) on opportunities to enhance the streetscapes of downtown Pittsfield.”
