POLL RESULTS: IDLE TIMES FOR BIZ TRAVEL
October 14, 2020ALL TREATS, NO TRICKS AT DLE OCTOBER PROGRAMS
October 14, 2020DLE Community Member Danielle Sanders doesn’t shy away from change.
She started her professional career as a mathematics subject expert at MRCC, a small e-learning company in Billerica, MA. Consequently, she soon developed interest in e-learning after coordinating a video project. This led her to pursue a different field: information technology.
Before long, a door opened for Danielle at General Dynamics Mission Systems in Pittsfield, MA as an IT Project Manager right as she was preparing to move back to the Berkshires—where she has family members. Eyeing internal opportunities for development, Danielle shifted to her current role as a facilities and real estate partner.
Danielle credits risk-taking, capitalizing on opportunities and fostering relationships as her keys to learning about new industries while advancing professional tools. “The last few years have allowed me to gain an exponential amount of knowledge and skills. I am fortunate to have been involved in an internal leadership boot camp, e3, in 2018, and to have incredible managers sponsor me for on the job training and career enhancing events,” she explains.
“In the last year I have had an opportunity to attend various Agile trainings and the Women in Defense virtual conference. With each experience I come out with a new perspective on how to enhance myself professionally and how to be a better leader. It’s been incredible!”
Joining the DLE Community this year, Danielle’s enthusiastic participation at programs is constant. She readily talks about the lessons she has learned from her career progression. “I like to think the biggest thing I can bring to the DLE is a smile and a willingness to learn! I love to share my thoughts and experiences to better the community and help others grow,” she confirms.
“My passion is teaching and sharing, and I enjoy contributing to the DLE. With each Ownership Workshop, Culture Chat, or Breakfast Club I attend, I always find something to take away and use in the coming weeks. I strive to better myself every day and this group gives me the outlet I need to do so.”
Away from work, Danielle enjoys exploring the scenic nature of Western Massachusetts. She has hobbies for every season: walking, foliage chasing, snowboarding, and camping, to name a few. Accompanying Danielle on these adventures is the newest (and already most spoiled!) addition to her home, a 3-month-old Australian Shepard/Blue Heeler mix named Milo.
Danielle also appreciates the arts, having played clarinet throughout college. She even performed as a soloist for a performance of Stamitz’s Concerto Number 3. Danielle also credits reading as one of the best tools for personal and professional advancement. “Read as much as you can on the things that interest you so you can grow yourself,” she says.
Thank you DLE Community Member Evan Hickok for introducing Danielle to the DLE!
